Why can’t light be aero? This was the question that prompted Bianchi to re-design the 2024 Specialissima RC. The answer was a bike with increased aero efficiency at lower gradient inclines, combined with excellent reactivity and a lower overall weight – starting at just 6.6kg for the entire RC model in a medium size. This bike gives riders more tools in their repertoire; more options for attacking the parcours. In fact, it turns the whole concept of ‘allrounder’ on its head, with no compromise.
Achieving the aero gains without a weight penalty meant strategic redistribution of material from the rear of the bike to the front, with super-fine seat stays and thinner chain stays, while also amping up the shape of the head tube with a subtle ‘beak’ for channelling air flow around the fork crown to create the more aerodynamic front-end. Individual parts of the Specialissima, like the derailleur hanger and seat clamp, have been shaped for minimal weight.
The Pro features the same aerodynamic cockpit engineered for the Specialissima RC, plus a high modulus carbon fibre frameset that incorporates Bianchi’s proprietary Countervail vibration cancelling layer within the lay-up, for enhanced comfort and control over a huge variety of surfaces. Finally, the Comp models utilize exactly the same frameset moulds and tube shapes as the RC and Pro, with a carbon fibre layup that adds a small amount of weight to the overall bike, but which also enhances comfort in a more conventional way than with Countervail (CV) – rest assured the Comp still delivers everything you’d expect from lightweight all-rounder, but at a more accessible price point!
